When I was college, I majored in Broadcast Journalism after switching from art history, and then poetry. I was a reporter, editor, and producer of news and features for radio and tv stations and networks in NYC for 20 years. Then, I taught documentary and sound design at NYU’s Film School for 25 years.
I have been a hands-on healer with a practice, and am still a practicing artist who receives commissions and shows work in galleries. In my early life, activism was documented, but since the current regime, my activism is lit. I march, call, donate, and work on behalf of candidates. I show up.
I view Twitter as a lifesaver, a place for me to express myself, to inform, educate, and activate. It is the convergence of all aspects of who I am. Twitter is a platform to spread truth in a time when lying is the currency of the realm.
The only positive out of this dark time, is that so many of us are engaging civically in America. My hope is that long after Donald is gone, we continue to be active on behalf of our country. I also hope to collaborate on a new Twitter page with @JadedCreative, dedicated exclusively to the arts, to remember why we resist.
