My first tweet was on April 15, 2018, on tax day. I came to Twitter truly knowing almost nothing about it. I had decided to try it out, mostly as an outlet for my creative writing.
I was also profoundly offended by the onslaught of this corrupt and irredeemable administration, and I began to write extensively, trying to emphasize my own Quaker heritage, ethnicity, and paradigms in my work. I launched into doing extensive image research, and quickly became passionately interested in mixing my written thoughts with works of art.
After the Kavanaugh hearings, I began to write less and less about politics, focusing more and more on psychdynamics: written assertions blended with images I have researched and selected.
I rarely watch the news now, and literally try to block out the noise and bring peace and beauty to my followers. I want 🍄rump in my psyche as little as possible, instead focusing on truth, beauty, peace, wisdom, history, and self-evident truths.
Sometimes I get an idea, and I go out and find artistic works that give me the same FEELING that my writing attempts to evoke. Sometimes, doing image research, I find works that make me think of some idea to write, and again, I am attempting to create interplay between word and image, almost like writing lyrics to art. But really, it’s only caption writing.
I am happiest when my tweets convey pleasant ambiguity and tension. I have received a tremendous amount of support and guidance from my partner, and her insights have helped me enormously, including the inclusion of artistic attributions in all my tweets. I have also made many friends here, and it’s quite amazing how many lovely comments (and support) I have received from people from all over the world, both publicly and privately. It’s very inspiring to know that some people are moved by what I do.
I try to be a kind, industrious, and mindful Twitter author, and attempt to BE the things I want to see, and to share myself and my craft with others (through this platform).
Peace. Creativity. Optimism.
